Vestibular Rehabilitation

You're not alone! There are 69 million Americans who suffer from dizziness or imbalance. The therapists at Carlisle Place Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy are specially trained to help.

The vestibular system is the part of the inner ear that communicates to the brain to help control balance and eye movements.  If this system is damaged by disease, concussion, aging or injury, vestibular disorders can result. A vestibular disorder is often associated with one or more of the following symptoms:

  • dizziness

  • vertigo

  • imbalance

  • spatial disorientation

  • visual disturbance

Not all symptoms will be experienced by every person and other symptoms are possible.  It is also important to note that these can also be caused by other conditions.  This is why it is important to talk with your doctor if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.  If it is determined that you may have a vestibular disorder or have sustained a concussion, vestibular rehabilitation can help.  Ask your doctor for a referral for vestibular rehabilitation at Carlisle Place Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy.
